GOD IS TRUSTWORTHY.

GOD IS TRUSTWORTHY.

Passage

"Trust the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding.

In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths smooth."

Proverbs 3:5-6

Have you ever been so sure you knew where you were going that you ignored all the warnings?

A few years ago, I was driving to a new restaurant with my wife.

I've never had a great sense of direction, but that day, I was so sure I knew where I was going.

My wife kept telling me I was going to get us lost.

I was convinced I was headed the right way.

She opened Google Maps and was offering to help, but I was being incredibly stubborn.

“We’re going the wrong way. Google isn't wrong.”

But I kept driving, refusing to "make a U-Turn at the light".

10 minutes in, we were completely lost.

Not only was I embarrassed, but my wife was frustrated, and we ended up missing our dinner reservation.

VIEW EXAMPLE

REFRAME TO TRUST EXERCISE

Take a few minutes to reflect on who God has been to you.

Take a piece of paper and write down 3-5 attributes at the very top.

For each one, think of a situation where you've seen this aspect of His character in your life.

Now divide the paper into 2 columns.

Title the left side My Struggles and the right side God's Character.

Now write down some of the disappointments, uncertainties, or struggles you’re facing today.

On the right side, write how one of God’s attributes connects to that situation following this structure:

God is [attribute], so I trust [what He will do].

Memorize these statements & repeat them daily.

Prayer

God,

I admit that I often come to You with my own plans, hoping You’ll make them happen the way I want.

Sometimes, I don't even come to you at all and just trust my instincts.

But today, I choose to surrender.

I know You see what I can’t, and I trust that Your plans are better than mine.

You've proven time and time again that you love and care for me.

So even when I don’t understand, I choose to trust that You’re working for my good.

I want your will, your way.

In Jesus’ name I pray,

Amen.
